TDC is ultimately a fun and challenging way for me to celebrate my 50th birthday in a couple of years time; as well as the journey getting there; from Spring 2014, which marks 30 years since I started running marathons.
The aim is to include one ‘major’ goal each week; a time trial, a race, a challenge, helping at an event, etc as well as an over all goal of running 10,000 miles in the next 1,000 days. With the idea of having run at least the distance between London and Hawaii [7,280 miles] before the Olympics in August 2016.
If I was able to run 12,450 miles [half the way around the planet] rather than just 10,000 miles in the 2 years 9 months, I would perhaps be likely to try and run the other half [12,450 miles] in the next 2 years and 3 months! Just to make a nice round figure [schuse pun], but that would make for a whopping 96 miles per week for 5 years! Ouch! Hey, dream big!
I hope to be able to complete many smaller challenges along the way but the primary focus and inspiration for this endeavour is to run 50 marathons in 50 days in the year I hit the big Hawaii five oh! .
