Queen Mary University London,
Mile End Rd, London E1 4NS
A staff running group has existed at Queen Mary for around 10 years with varying degrees of success. I was asked to come in and set up an official Run England group here for both staff and students in the Spring of 2013.
Runs take place in Mile End Park and along local towpaths/Victoria Park and beyond. Two types of training are offered; a steady pace 3-5 mile run and a fartlek/interval/hill training type session. QMUL is now also registered as a group with parkrun. Members of the group now take part in races up to Half Marathon distance and newer runners are working towards their first 5K event.

iven that most of the staff at QMUL do not live locally this was the first event they have been able to take part in [being an evening after work]. A great social event of multiple laps to complete either 5 or 10 Kilometres. As this is untimed/self-timed it is a good way to ease those newer to running into the spirit of taking part in events. Around 20 runners from my Run England groups came together to enjoy the lovely spring evening. Two of the QMUL runners were completing their first event/5K. So far three of the ladies from Queen Mary University have raised over £300 for charity.
